That awkward moment when you watch a show called 'Awkward' that isnt awkward at all.

Hello! Its been awhile eh? I know nobody visits anymore except for spammers so this time, I'm just blogging for myself. Sort of like a journal.

Sooo today I was watching this TV show called 'Awkward.' on MTV right, and I know.. I know... Its MTV. They're not exactly famous for producing quality TV shows, but this one.. this one is a gem.

It isnt a retarded reality show on MTV like Teen Moms, Freaky Kids in Beauty Pageants (I honestly dont know what the real title is hahaha) or Jersey Shore, but it is an actual, scripted TV show with professional actors and actresses. I stumbled upon it on MTV while channel-surfing today and because I recognised 2 of the actors (Beau Mirchoff who played Danny Bolen on Desperate Housewives and Ashley Rickards who played Sam on One Tree Hill), I decided not to switch channels and watch it for awhile. And I never switched the channel until the Awkward marathon was done. I believe I watched 3 episodes in one sitting on MTV earlier today. It was that good. Or, more like, I just liked it that much.

At first I thought it was gonna be a romantic-drama reality show like The Hills or something, but nope! It is actually a comedy-drama! I found some parts surprisingly hilarious and some parts were super awwwww-worthy. Especially for a TV show about high school drama. But then again, I'm starting to realise that I'm developing a guilty pleasure for high school dramas. It used to be acceptable back then to watch it, back when I was in high school, because it was so relatable? But now its quite frowned-upon to be so interested in high school drama shows at my age, because we've gone way past that petty drama age, with the cliques and jocks, popular bitches and nerdy wannabes, all that back-stabbing and gossiping hoo ha. But high school never really ends, does it?

What the creators of Awkward has brought to the table was a mature, relatable, cynical yet hopelessly romantic 16-year-old protagonist who.. yeah, pretty much stumbles through high school. Sounds typical, I know, but she brings a fresh perspective to situations with her voice-over narrations/thoughts. I'll be honest, what caught my eye at first was how hot Beau Mirchoff is (LOL I just cant help it sometimes :P) and the first few scenes I saw was of them being cute together! Before some shit happens la, as expected. But what kept me drawn to this show was the humour, whether it was her parents, her guidance counsellor, her best friends or even her own hilariously snarky thoughts, it was funny! It was entertaining. And it was relatable.

I'm not really good at writing reviews, but hey, maybe that 8.3/10 score on IMDB can be a little convincing eh? Once the marathon on MTV was over, I ran upstairs to my room, IMDB-ed this tv show and went on a torrent spree. I downloaded and watched the entire 12-episode season after that, and here I am, blogging! Because this show sparked up an old feeling of mine.. that old hopeless romantic in me that went missing for awhile.

Thats the thing about high school romance, it was the only thing high schoolers needed to worry about. Education back in school was easy, and the cramming and studying was only needed as we approached exams, but when it wasnt exam season, when we didnt have bitches to worry about, we had our crushes to crush on, boys to overanalyse and all that shit. I guess I kind of miss that, and the whole not having to worry about my studies bit. Because lets face it, uni has been sucking me dry, and i'm only halfway through my course. I miss being carefree. I miss the days where relationships were easy and not full of complicated blurred lines like "we're just dating", "its not exclusive", "it's an open relationship" and all that. I missed being a hopeless romantic! Because its better to have love and lost, than not to have loved at all right?

I guess what this show has done is brought back all the memories and carefree-ness and whatnot that I've missed. I guess thats why I do enjoy watching high school shows, to escape from reality and just focus on somebody else's fantasy. To indulge in watching someone else be hopelessly and romantically happy. With a cute boy too, haha. Because its fun and entertaining and it floats my boat. And I'm not ashamed of it, hehe :D

(And also frankly I think its because I am turning 21 in a few days and I don't think I am emotionally or mentally ready to grow up :'( Why can't I be a teenager foreverrrr whyyyyyy?? lolol)

Limitless

Btw, on another note, I caught Limitless last night, with Jarrel and Cheryl WHOM I HAVE NOT SEEN IN WEEEEEKS!!!

It was really good!! Wow I just realised I havent blogged about a movie in forever. The last movie I blogged about was Toy Story 3. Holy--

Anyways, yes, basically (all that I am about to say is already mentioned in the trailer already ok, so this aint spoilers) it's about this struggling writer who takes this "smart pill" that makes him use 100% of his brain (instead of the usual 20% that humans only use), and he rises to fame and fortune practically overnight, but of course, there are people out to get him and whatnot, or else the movie would be pointless now wouldnt it?

It's really good la, I dont really know how much to describe it but its so thrilling and suspenseful and funny and you also have your eyecandy (Bradley Cooper for the ladies, or Abbie Cornish for the guys.. but mostly Bradley Cooper for the girls la :P), and I think this movie is appealing to both males and females? Its not your usual non-stop boring action, and its not very romanticy and sappy either.. not at all, actually. Romance probably makes up like only 10% of this movie, and it isnt your usual "for the sake of it" type of romance that most male-oriented movies do.

Also, this movie is pretty long.. About 2 hours. But it doesnt feel like it, not at all. I thought the ending was DAMN abrupt though, when the ending credits rolled I was literally "THATS IT??", probably because they ended it in such a way that feels like there's still lots more of the movie to go. And they ended it at such a weird scene.. like a 'filler' scene, in a way. Yeah, I was kinda caught off guard actually, haha.

Speaking of credits, watch out for the opening credits. Veeeery headache-inducing.

I shall end this post abruptly too, like the old days. Bye! :)

Loooong taaaimmm nooo seeeee

So.. I think it's safe to say that throughout my whole entire semester so far.......

... this week is the only week where I have short nails, LOL! Bet you weren't expecting that. Its because it's my midterms week... but I think its mostly because a nail broke and me being a perfectionist, every nail has to be the same length :( so yeah. But here's a picture of one colour I bought! I recently bought 4 new polishes online btw.

These are my first ever OPI polishes ever owned okay. I bought 2 OPI polishes, each for RM27. Retail prices are RM59.90. Bargain? HELL YES. Its less than half the retail price in Malaysia.. I cant even...

Anyways, I bought Rumple's Wiggin' (pale lilac) from the Shrek collection, and Yodel Me On My Cell (blue/green shimmer) from their Swiss collection. Gorgeousssss. Will post more pics soon when I'm not so busy ahha.

I bought 2 more polishes from another website, Eyeko's Vintage Polish (RM15, it was on sale) and China Glaze's Sea Spray (RM25) from their Anchor's Away! collection, which is the one I'm gonna show pictures of today. Btw I dont think you can even get these brands here in Malaysia? Haven't seen them around yet.

No topcoat btw. Its a gloomy blueish grey pastel colour, that has micro shimmers in them!! Cant really see it under fluorescent light though, but under sunlight like below...

Can you see it? can you see it? Its clearer on the bottle, and maybe you ought to click on the picture to view it in full size to notice the micro shimmers on the nail... its veeeery subtle. But yes, its a very gloomy colour, but I kinda like it for some reason! Well obviously yeah, or else I wouldn't spend RM25 on it now would I? haha.

Yeah I think it's safe to say that I caught the beauty bug. Throughout this past year, my make up collection has increased quite a bit.. and so have my nail polishes collection. I actually own make up brushes now, compared to having none like a year ago. I've subscribed to more beauty gurus on youtube and... I dunno. I look forward to wearing make up more often? haha. Despite having such shitty skin!! Damn you hormones!!

Anyways. Yeah, just though I'd wipe some dust off this blog and blog about something... haha. Okay, back to studying :)

Heavy Picture post!

Nude nails for the weekend (last weekend, anyway) :)

Non-instagrammified, without top coat.

Instagrammified, with top-coat, poorly applied as you can see shiny bits on my cuticles.

I used in2it's french mani set in the beigey nude colour. Its soooo sheer, that even with 3 coats, you can still see the whites on my tips! But I kinda like how it turned out, because its not completely pastel but has like a little shimmer in it hehehh. Pictures taken with my iphone.

Yes. My iPhone. I GOT AN IPHONE WOOHOOOO!!

I was always contemplating getting either an iPhone or a BB, but once I gave back the iPod Touch to Keith, omg, withdrawal symptoms much? hahaha. What can I say? I caught the Apple bug.

Syok sendiri :D

Those nails were painted in Elianto's Thistle btw. Yeah I've been a little bit obsessed with nail colour lately LOL. But it'll subside eventually. I've already ordered quite a bit online HEH! shy.

Anyhoo, Year 2 Sem 1 has officially begun! With tutorials starting to pile up and lecturers finishing the first chapter of the syllabus, my holidays felt like they were officially over once Nick (the last one to leave for Australia out of the group) left for Sydney. You could say my holidays were defined when my friends from Australia came back, and now that they're gone, so are my holidays I guess. Feels like that anyways.

So here are some pictures of what I was up to in the last 3 months :)

My 20th birthday dinner @ Rosemary's Bites!

We went shopping that day @ KL :)

Paramoooaaarrrr

Finally, I can blog about paramore.

Btw, EXAMS ARE OVAAAAR BAYBEHHHHHHHHHHHH WOOOO

Okays, so Paramore was on 19th October, A MONTH AGO LOL. The reason why I'm only blogging now is because for the past month I've been studying my ass off for my finals!! aaah. If I get through this, I'll be in Year 2. Where we all get seperated and segregated into our majors, mine being Chemical Engineering. eeeeek.

Anyways!

Details:
Band: Paramore
Venue: Stadium Negara, Bukit Jalil (aka the massive football stadium)
Date: 19th October 2010

I went for the gig with Yin Mun, we both got the cheapest tickets because we were damn broke hahaha. And we tumpang-ed Joel's car who was fetching Irwan and ShinYin as well. They got the slightly more expensive tickets.

Yinmun and I! She so purdy.

This post is gonna be picture-heavy, so i'm gonna condense it. hehheh.

We were one of the first few in line baybeh!

Joel with his Samsung Galaxy, and THE LIIINEEEE

Yup. We were first in line woot.

We probably reached the stadium at about 4pm-ish? Waited in line, ate some food, and when the doors opened at 7, we RAN IN. I managed to sneak in my 2 bottles of water haha! I always bring 2 bottles of water to gigs. especially if you're gonna be at the moshpit, water is ESSENTIAL if you want to stay conscious. Too bad we didn't get moshpit tickets, they were like friggin close to RM400 bucks man. Insane. Only the rich kids got to go.

So once we entered the stadium, we immediately went for the lowest and middle-st seats, and we got them! Right behind the barrier/balcony thingy. Epic. Then the wait began. There were a bunch of food stalls outside the stadium, but inside the stadium gates, so we tapaoed food to eat while we waited for the gig to start. Sitting in gigs is so chilled la, compared to the moshpit where you have to starve to SURVIVE. I feel so old for saying that lol.

I spotted my classmate LOL

And while waiting, we spotted this black MPV driving behind the stage! ZOMG IT WAS PARAMORE. THEY WERE ENTERING THE BUILDING LIKE RIGHT NOW. Only people on the balcony (aka us) could spot them because they were blocked by the cardboard walls, but we were high enough to see above the walls. And the best part was Hayley spotted us as well! She was walking from the MPV to backstage and we could spot her hair from a mile away, we yelled and clapped and she gave us a huuuuge wave zomg, thats when it sank in that PARAMORE IS IN DA HAAAUSSS.

And then the gig started no more than a minute after that moment.

They were teasing us with their silhouettes before the white curtain came down. Shit camera quality from here on out, sorry. My camera's not good in the dark.

Hayley banters with us and i go nuts haha!

They had an acoustic set as well!

Meanwhile during Misguided Ghosts right, I think something went wrong with Hayley's mic because when she was singing the last chorus, we couldn't hear anything! It was quite fail. I was taking a video of it too, meh. Disappointed.

Here's the video. Pardon my singing please. And I talk way too much sometimes hahaha.

The pretty lights from our phones/lighters/whatever for The Only Exception, probably one of my least favourite Paramore songs. Hitz.fm totally ruined it for me by overplaying it, sorry kids. But despite that it was still beautiful! :D

Confetti! During their last song. awwww.

They ended their setlist with Misery Business, and during the bridge, Hayley actually brought up an audience member on stage!!! holy balls!!

She made him sing the bridge of Misery Business but i guess she wasnt clear enough because this dude, (chubby chinese dude btw LOL), ended up singing the CHORUS instead. IMAGINE. A DUDE. SINGING THE CHORUS. ITS SO FUNNY. I even took a video wahahah! And he had the balls to ask for a picture right there on stage. Lucky bastard.

Here's the video! its quite lulzy.

The end :(

She was giving out the pics and drumsticks

aaaaaaaaand so here's the complete setlist!

1. Ignorance
2. Feeling sorry
3. That's What You Get
4. For a Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic
5. Emergency
‎6. Playing God
7. Careful
8. Decode
9. Let This Go (Acoustic)
10. When It Rains (Acoustic)
11. When The Lines Overlap (Acoustic)
12. Misguided Ghosts (failed halfway)
13. Crushcrushcrush
14. Pressure
15. Looking Up
16. The Only Exception
ENCOOOOOREEEEE
17. Brick By Boring Brick
18. Misery Business.

THE END.

I gotta say, for a tiny woman Hayley Williams is, she suuure has ENERGY! and charisma! And whenever she talks, her voice is just so child-like and cute and she does little dances and jigs and bops when she performs, i tell you, i fell inlove with her that night. LOL. Now not so much cause the looove has worn off, but when i watch the complete videos on youtube its like... dayumn guuuuurl you gots style!

Music-wise, the sound system was quite crap that night. The music was all good, its just her microphone that went a bit haywire. Cant hear nuts at times. But all in all still a good gig, I LOVE LIVE MUSIC OMG. I always leave with this.... high. :)
